Interesting, I just read an article about a group proposing to make dimmable streetlights that base their lighting on the level of light given off by the moon. On nights of the full moon they would shut off.
Also in the article was startling bit of info. Originally (30's) street lights were used as a means to use up electricity when demand was low. With no storage capabilities our electrical system has to use what it makes.
