Asian churchkey, originally uploaded by spcummings.

Among the artifacts brought back from Japan ten years ago was this random shogi-piece bottle opener. I'm not sure how we acquired it. I seem to remember it being a gift. But, it's one of those things that we wind up using a great deal.

Wonderful shot. Makes me think you're in the cabin of a small ship, being tossed in the stormy waters of the of Japan, and steeling yourself against the worst with some draughts of Sapporo.

If you live in Japan now, you can buy the openers through the following page;

Takodori, unfortunately, I returned to the U.S. some time ago, but thanks for the link. It's nice to know I might be able to get a replacement if this one ever gets lost.

I actually have a few nice mementos from that time (1994-1997). See today's pic (3/16/2007).

Dan, thanks. It did get pretty cold and scary a few weeks ago, so the beer became necessary. Athough I believe Sapporo is brewed by Budwesier stateside.
