It would be interesting to take a similar shot, but with the slow exposure. Amid the placid, rustic wood interior of the the surroundings, a blurred whirl of action and ponytail.
I like the shot. Why from down low? That adds an almost creepy, voyeuristic feel to the whole thing.
In this case I was looking for a shot of the day, and this one appeared so I took it. It was taken from a table across from the counter. In my defense, the Caribou chain does put staff deep behind these wooden counters, so it would have been hard to take a candid shot close-up without being totally obvious.
I'd also suggest "idealizing" over voyerism, since I think baristas are often seen in that light, particularly in caffiene-washed college towns such as this one.
