It was cold and bright out today. This was taken on the University of Iowa campus, while I ran an errand over lunch. It's a basketball court behind several dormitories. Though the surface is (mostly) dry, it's not seeing any actiion at the moment.
I always hated playing in inclement weather. People who didn't give a rip about the safety of themselves or others (Mighty Tom) had a distinct advantage over those who did (me),. Also, people whose games were based on jostling their way in next to the basket(Mighty Tom) had an advantage over those whose games were based on quick change of direction and foot speed (me).

If anyone from the University of Iowa men's team was out there shooting around, the court would be the 2nd whitest thing in the shot.
And perhaps the cold would only help.
The color on this shot is bizarre, as if taken during a nuclear blast. Very cool.
If you look at the closest hoop in the photo, there is a patch of ice in the lane.
Can you imagine playing winter ball and trying to drive to the lane?
It would be a matter of minutes before someone was face down and dead on the court.
Dan, do you remember the time we shoveld off the court at Hoover?
Which time?

Which time indeed.
Don't remember which year, but it was about 5-6 years ago during winter break / Christmas visit.
I took the picture with the ISO settings high, or something like that. I liked the blinding white, which was accurate for that moment, anyway.
