Tonight my wife's place of employment held a staff get-together. The Brown Bottle was the location, downtown Waterloo in the Russel-Lampson building.

Holy cow, Stephen. Your best picture yet this year. It doesn't even look real. Twin Peaks. Twilight Zone. Space Bar in some alternate universe. Great job.

It is a super cool shot. B/W - correct? Something about B/W always adds a level of coolness.

Good old Brown Bottle. It is true to my recollection that there are almost never any people in this space.

Thanks, guys. Indeed, black and white, onboard camera setting. I like B&W a lot, and the sort-of historic quality of the RL lobby lent itself to the shot. I have the same memories of the place, very few people there. My wife works at the Blacks building, which has the same feel to it. Few people to be found in downtown W'loo, I'm afraid.

I adjusted the ISO to keep the light a little more muted. The lobbyh already comes with odd, anachronistic decor, including the star-show by the door (pictured here) and the Harley-Davison motorcycle wall trim in the men's room (not pictured here).
